Greek seafarers take action

12 December 2008

Greek seafarers have entered their second week of strike action against ferry lines over implementation of wage increases to crew.

The action by the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) follows a new collective agreement signed last June, backdated to the start of 2008. Following the first week's strikes, Anek Lines, NEL Lines and Hydraiki agreed to pay the outstanding wages. Action to retrieve wage increments continues against the smaller companies, Kallisti Ferries and SAOS Ferries.
