Kandla welfare centre launched

| Kandla centre opens up to welcome visiting seafarers | |
The Kandla seafarers' welfare centre, inside the Port of Kandla, India, was inaugurated on 26 January at an event attended by port officials, contractors and trade unions.
The centre was set up through the work of the Kandla Seafarers' Welfare Association to meet the needs of visiting seafarers, and is supported by a grant from the ITF Seafarers' Trust.In 2010, Kandla was awarded "port of the year" in the International Committee on Seafarers' Welfare (ICSW) international seafarers’ welfare awards.
