Spain signs up to Seafarers' Bill of Rights

Spain has become the first European Union member state to ratify the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (the "Seafarers' Bill of Rights"), which sets out minimum rights for the world's 1.2 million seafarers. Spain, which currently holds the EU presidency, is the seventh country to ratify the Convention. The other states are: Bahamas, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Norway and Panama.Back to current news online stories
