For more than 60 years the ITF and its unions have been working to improve pay and conditions for seafarers worldwide. This means ensuring that seafarers have decent working and living conditions that are negotiated through collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) – these are either signed by ITF or by our affiliated unions. Vessels not covered by CBAs get more attention from ITF inspectors as part of our campaign to eliminate substandard shipping and improve working and living conditions for seafarers.
