The United Kingdom authorities detained six foreign-flagged vessels during November for failing port inspections, including breaches of safety regulations.
The Panama-flagged River Elbe was found to have 21 deficiencies and was detained on five grounds, including a holed hull, lifeboats not as required, and broken launching arrangements for survival craft.
The Marshall Islands-flagged Argyroula had 11 deficiencies and was detained for five of them, including poor operation and maintenance, fire doors and emergency generator not as required and lack of fire drills for crew.
The Marshall Islands-flagged Aviator was detained for eight of its 12 deficiencies, including malfunctioning fire doors and poor fire safety, as well as unhygienic sanitary facilities and galleys.
The Panama-flagged Frezya S was also found to be dirty and had unsafe electrics, and detained for six of its 17 deficiencies, including insufficient provisions and missing Maritime Labour Convention compliance.
The Singapore-flagged MTM Hong Kong was detained for two of 18 deficiencies found, and the Norway-flagged Hoegh Transporter for one of its 12 deficiencies.
