The ITF is supporting its Norwegian maritime affiliates that are advocating for cabotage legislation and the regulation of wages and working conditions for all seafarers working in Norwegian waters and on the continental shelf.

The ITF already has nine offices worldwide including three existing in the Asia Pacific region in Delhi, Tokyo and Sydney.

ITF president Paddy Crumlin, who is based in Sydney, said: “As a trade union organisation we’ve identified Asia Pacific as a major area of growth. We want to see more unions in the region affiliating to the ITF family.
