UK detains five foreign ships

5 May 2017

The United Kingdom detained five foreign-flagged ships during April 2017 after they failed port inspections. While four of these vessels continued to be detained from previous months and had not yet made good their deficiencies, there was one new detention. The Marshalls Island-flagged Argyroula was detained in Hull on 5 April because its galley was not hygienic, the vessel was dirty and there were signs of vermin; it was released on 13 April.

Vessels that continued to be detained included the India-flagged Malaviya Seven, originally arrested in Aberdeen, Scotland in October and still detained for non-payment of wages to crew and four other deficiencies.
