ITF general secretary Steve Cotton has paid tribute to Kimberly Karlshoej, head of the ITF Seafarers’ Trust since the end of 2014, who is stepping down from her post at the ITF’s charity arm; she will continue in a consultancy role there.

Steve Cotton commented that: “During her time as head of the Trust, she has modernised and revitalised it. Her knowledge of, and passion for the maritime industry, and seafarers in particular, has made the Trust more proactive in its grant-making by supporting projects that benefit maritime workers, their families and maritime communities in general.”

Adding that the Trust was extremely grateful to Ms Karlshoej for her work for the organisation, Mr Cotton said the Trust was very pleased that she will continue to work with it as a consultant. The Seafarers’ Trust new acting head will be Tomas Abrahamsson, previously an elected officer of the Swedish union SEKO as well as on the board of the Swedish non-profit trade union organisation Union to Union.
