SIU launches disaster aid fund following hurricanes

13 October 2017

Following the recent wave of hurricanes that devastated parts of the Caribbean and the USA’s Gulf and Atlantic coasts, the US Seafarers International Union (SIU) has launched a new fund to assist its current and retired members living in the areas affected.

The Seafarers Disaster Aid Fund is being set up as a permanent body, which should help speed up donations and payments in future disasters. The fund will pay out up to USD500 per claimant.

Donations made out to Seafarers Disaster Aid Fund can be sent to Seafarers Disaster Aid Fund, c/o SIU Secretary-Treasurer, 5201 Auth Way, Camp Springs, MD 20746, USA, or made online here
